Sebastian is the court composer and one of king triton’s most trused advisers.
In fact, Triton gives Sebastian the job to keeping and eye on Ariel, a task the little crab takes quite seriously.
Although Sebastian respects King Triton greatly, he also fears him, often worrying about what the kking will do to him if he makes a mistake.
Sebastian is highly intelligent and practical.
Like King Triton, he dislikes the surface world.
But for Sebastian, this dislike comes largely from a fear of being eaten!
Despite his no-nonsense personality, Sebastian has a soft spot for Ariel.
Although he often finds her short attention span and unwillingness to listen to his father frustrating, he takes it upon himself to help her once she becomes human and does his best to make Eric fall in love with her.

Sebastian makes a cameo in Aladdin!
The Genie pulls him out of a book when he is looking for the right recipe to turn Aladdin into a prince.
He is also mentioned by Tamatoa following the end credits of Moana.
Outside the scope of The little mermaid film, Sebastian released two reggae albums.
