The scent after raining

Hello!
I’m Mandarlyn!
Today I’m going to tell you about the smell after raining

Let’s go!

Have you ever smelled the air after it rains? I has an earthy scent.

Some people thin it’s the smell of the rain itself.

But rain doesn’t have a smell.

In fact, the smell is caused by bacteria.

These bacteria live in wet soil.

They produce something called geosmin.

Geosmin has a unique smell that we all recognize.

It is usually located between rocks.

When it rains, water hits the geosmin.

This causes it to enter the air.

Then moisture in the air carries it to our noses.

That’s why we can smell an earth scent on a rainy day.

Bye~!
