Nepal has an unusual tradition.
Young girls are chosen tobe living goddesses called Kumari.
Being a Kumari is a big honor, so many parents want their daughters to become one.
However,be difficult for the girls.
To become a Kumari, a girl cannotit canhave any scars.
And she must have all her teeth, and she must alsohave courage and a good voice.
When a girl becomes a Kumari,everything changes.
She leaves her family and lives in a palace.
She has to wear red clothes and hair accessories all the time.
The life of a Kumari is lonely, She can only leave the palace forceremonies.
She can’t even visit her parents.
She must live thisway until another girl replaces her.
Some people say this traditionis unfair to the girls.
I don’t want to be Kumari if i have to leave my parents.
My parents are all of me!
