Artist Lee Jung-seop of Daehyang, who is said to be a genius painter of an unfortunate era, lived in Seogwipo City and left many works, including ‘Fantasy of Seogwipo’, based on the beautiful scenery of Seogwipo and the generous people of this town.

He lived in Seogwipo for a short period of about 11 months. The stay later had a profound impact on the art world of Daehyang Lee Jung-seop.

Here are the pictures that I took in Lee Jung-seop museum.

Seogwipo City would like to honor his high creative passion and undying artistic spirit for future generations, and provide an opportunity for visitors and citizens to empathize with the artistic footsteps of artist Lee Jung-seop.

Meanwhile, in order to revitalize Lee Jung-seop Street as a cultural tourism street where culture lives, Seogwipo City established the Lee Jung-seop Art Museum again.

It is located on a hill overlooking Seogwipo Port, right next to the thatched house that was rented during the war, and in front of the art museum is Lee Jung-seop Park.

However, at the time of opening, there were no original paintings and only some copies were on display.

However, thanks to the donations and efforts of cultural figures who felt sorry for this, several works are currently on display, including works depicting Lee Jung-seop’s life during his time in Seogwipo.
